Mickey Nightrain
Known to many as Maximus for his
productions on the legendary Frankie
Bones labels, Mickey Nightrain has
dedicated the last decade to pushing the
boundaries of electronic dance music. A
dj, producer and promoter, Petza got his
start at the fabled after-hours Club 1722 in
his birthplace of Baltimore, MD after
attending some of the historical events in
the city such as Buzz, Fever and Ultraworld.
In 2001 he moved to Nashville, TN and
quickly became the most requested dj and
a successful promoter of mid-size events
while holding residencies at Excess/Orbit,
Red Iguana and Blu among other venues.
In May 2006 Petza moved his studio and
label headquarters to Miami, FL where he
has begun the task of creating his debut
artist album. What sets Nightrain apart is
his ability to play original productions
completely live with no laptop, DAT or other
prerecorded sources...even the final mix is
done live on his hardware synthesizers,
drum machine and samplers. The
Nightrain sound can be described as
uplifting funky house, electro and breaks
influenced by the old school sounds of the
80's and 90's while still pushing the
envelope with new sounds of both today
and the future.
In May of 2006 Nightrain released
The Path EP which is a testament to his
unique production abilities combining
electro, techno and nu-skool breaks. Since
then his label Nightrain Music has
released over a dozen tracks including the
wildly popular "Revolver" and "Work It."
2007 is shaping up to be a great year for
Nightrain with great reviews coming in from
major dance publications and he will
continue to dj across the US and abroad as
well while still releasing quality original
productions.
